Embark on the second day of the Everest Base Camp Trek and Back by Helicopter with a scenic 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla early in the morning. Admire the magnificent Himalayan ranges during the flight. Upon landing in Lukla, the starting point of the Everest Region, meet our crew and start the trek from Lukla to Phakding (2610m) for 3 to 4 hours. Enjoy the beautiful terrain, Sherpa villages, river valleys, and monasteries on the way.
Note:If you are planning to embark on the enchanting EBC trek during the bustling peak seasons of August (October and November) and Spring (March and April), it is important to note that there is no direct connection between Kathmandu and Lukla due to heavy air traffic. However, since 2019AD, the destination has been altered, and you will now have to travel to Ramechhap at Manthali Airport. If you opt for a flight on the same day from Kathmandu, it may be necessary to depart in the middle of the night. Alternatively, if you prefer not to undertake a midnight journey, you can choose to stay in Ramechhap one day prior to your flight.

On the third day of your journey, depart from Phakding and make your way to Namche Bazaar (3440m) passing through TokTok, Bankar, Manjo, Jorsalle, and Hillary Bridge. The total distance covered will be approximately 12km, allowing you to experience various climates and immerse yourself in the Sherpa Village amidst woodlands, viewpoints, rivers, farmlands, monasteries, and multiple suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Prior to reaching Bankar, you will be treated to a stunning view of Mt. Thamserku. Manjo serves as the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park, where you can obtain the necessary entry permit. After Jorsalle, continue following the river and ascend towards Hillary Bridge, offering the first glimpse of Mt. Everest. The trail from Hillary Bridge to Namche ascends through pine and Rhododendron forests, providing opportunities to spot wildlife such as deer, pheasants, and more.

The fourth day of our journey is entirely allocated to render a break to your tired muscles. Along with rest, there are few activities that are meant acclimatize you as per the surrounding. Due to its location in higher elevations, the atmosphere in Everest Region is thinner with low levels of essential oxygen. Rather than just sitting in one place at Namche Bazaar, this process of adapting to the higher altitudes (acclimatization) can be speeded up with short hikes to Everest view Hotel then continuing to nearby villages of Khumjung (3,780m) and Khunde (3,840m). Alongside acclimatization, you can also explore this spectacular Sherpa Villages and witness fascinating mountain vistas. Rest of day, you may explore Namche Bazaar, the prime Sherpa settlement and a commercial hub of Khumbu Region.

Re-energized after a rest day, we’ll make a descent via a windy trail and advance beyond the dense pinewood accompanied by the awe-inspiring outlooks of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse and other neighbouring peaks. We now arrive at the intersection of the path that heads to Gokyo valley and Base Camp after trekking across the Sanasa and Kenjoma Villages. Thereafter, we proceed downhill along the trail consisting stone steps and reach the banks of Dudh Koshi River to traverse the suspension bridge over it. We then trek down the woodland, by the prayer wheel operated by the force of flowing water to Tengboche (3,870m). Here, you can visit the Tengboche Monastery and take pleasure in the prepossessing mountain vistas embracing Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse.

This very day, we push forward to the north and progress beyond the small suspension bridge across the Dudh Koshi River. Then, we navigate on the trail that proceeds adjacent to the side of Imja Khola then trek through the rhododendron woodland to Dingboche (4,360m). Today, we make our way past Sherpa villages such as Deboche and Pangboche, several chortens and Mani walls. En route, we can catch the glimpse of Mt. Ama Dablam, the great wall of Nuptse, Mt. Kongma-Tse (5,820m), and Mt. Tawache.

Also known as the ‘the gateway to Chukung’; the Sherpa settlement of Dingboche also unlocks the way to the demanding escapade to Ama Dablam Base Camp and Makalu region further beyond. This stone-fenced village is also celebrated among the visitors for the alluring mountain vistas that it bestows upon them. Situated above 4,000m asl, Dingboche provides an excellent place to acclimatize in accordance with higher elevations and limited oxygen. Furthermore, a short hike to nearby Nangkartshang Gompa renders a remarkable view of Mt. Makalu (8,485m); or you can hike to Chhukung for awe-inspiring outlooks encompassing Island, Lhotse and Ama Dablam Peaks; together with ice walls encircling Amphu Lapcha Pass.

Afterwards, the trail advances beyond exquisite meadows and alpine greenery; making its way to Dughla. During the journey, we can witness the magnificent landscape complemented by mountain panoramas comprising beautiful Ama Dablam, Taboche, and Cholatse. From this point onwards, the trail becomes abrupt to Thokla Pass (4830m) where it comes across the memorials dedicated to those who had fallen in the course of Everest Summit Expedition. Thereafter, the trail climbs uphill over lateral moraines of the Khumbu glacier showcasing the sublime view of Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse and other peaks in the neighbourhood. To the other side of Thokla Pass, the trail makes it to Lobuche (4,940m).

The serpentine trekking trail progress down the valley to Gorakshep (5,170m) flaunting a pleasant view comprehending colossal Khumbu, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse, as well as other magnificent peaks and glaciers. Originally, Everest Base Camp was located in Gorakshep. Later, the Base Camp was shifted further to a higher elevation, close to the Everest. Before the crack of the dawn, we commence our climb to the ultimate viewpoint of Khumbu Region renowned for the view of sunrise above the Mt. Everest. Adorned with prayer flags; the apex of Kalapatthar at an elevation of 5,545m flaunts the awe-inspiring as well as the spell-binding vista of Mt. Everest, glittering by the hues of the rising sun. The Kalapatthar Viewpoint is dominated by Mt. Pumori but extends the astounding full-scale view of Mt. Everest at close proximity, which we cannot observe from Everest Base Camp. After capturing those magical moments in our heart and cameras, we trek back to Gorakshep. But, it’s not the end of surprises but it keeps on coming!! Here, a helicopter will be waiting for us that will fly us back to Lukla. In the course of this exquisite flight, we’ll have the aerial outlook of the snow-capped Himalayan Range and pristine lakes from up above the blue sky. In addition, we’ll also get a window of opportunity to capture those aerial sights via our cameras as our mode of transportation allows us to do so!!
